But good news! I left with a bunch of great patterns, most of which were in my size. I actually started out the market pretty disappointed with my findings. I wasn't sure if it's because I wasn't there right at opening, but it took about 4 rows in before I really started finding things.
The main goodies that I found were sewing patterns and buttons. There were so many of the two! I was hoping to find more fabrics, but I don't think I have the eye. There were a lot of booths with upholstery and burlaps... the latter would have swarms or people. What are they making with that stuff?? Seriously, there were some booths where I couldn't figure out what was the reason for the crowds. But they probably thing the same thing when they see people poring over boxes of old patterns.

This table was so incredible |
Anyways, it was a great day. I was exhausted by the time we got home. But I considered it a successful trip. I'm looking forward to the next one!

A beautiful day and gorgeous views |
How often do you guys meet up and do this? I really want to go to the next one.
ReplyDeleteWe actually have a Bay Area meetup that Made by Meg just started so this was the first one that was supposed to be done as a group. I hope to go more regularly though, it usually just comes down to laziness (it's an hour drive for me and I like to be there first thing in the morning). You should definitely check the meet-up out though and I'm happy to meet if I go to any of the upcoming ones!
DeleteThat looks like such a fabulous place to go to. Wish I was in the US!
ReplyDeleteDo you have anything similar in the UK? Estate sales and so on? I mentioned to Rachel that not all flea markets here are created equal. Some become collections of junk - so it's so exciting when I do find something good, and reasonably priced!
Deletesuch a great buy.. we don't have them here in the UK.. shame
ReplyDeleteBut I think you gals have such wonderful luck finding gorgeous antiques and other goodies over there! I must be looking in the wrong places b/c I never find them (except on purpose at flea markets). And seriously, not all flea markets are like this. The two closest to me are horrible and really just carry junk. I have to make the trek out for this one. I wish there were more like it nearby.
DeleteI love stumbling upon such great finds! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteIt's so exciting when you're flipping through a box of old patterns and you find one that's in your size (and happens to be cute too!). Or walking by a booth and seeing jars of lace or buttons. I love it!
